We celebrated the May Day weekend at Wildhern with at least a little sunshine! The maypole was up and on the Sunday we had our Penny Fair. A variety of games were hotly contested and prizes awarded for both adult and younger winners!
For the late May bank holiday we camped in beautiful Lacock. As well as providing a base for those visiting the festival in Chippenham, several people ventured into Lacock village, which as well as being regularly used for filming period dramas was holding a scarecrow festival, and to nearby Bowood House to see the famous Rhododendrons.
Our next meet is at Fort Widley, where we camp right on the parade ground, with views over Portsmouth, then on to Awbridge near Romsey – a lovely site with a nature reserve next door and plenty to see and do with the Beggars Fair in Romsey on the Saturday.
At the end of July, we’re back at Wildhern to celebrate Wessex’s 40th Birthday. There are lots of exciting plans afoot and this looks to be a great weekend. It’s a booked meet, so make sure you get your bookings in to Sarah (our Chairman) soon if you’d like to join us to celebrate in style!
