Wessex has had a fairly quiet summer – we had a small, but perfectly formed meet at Awbridge in July. Those that came enjoyed a great music session on Friday night, and a fantastically varied evening on Saturday. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our meet in August due to local authority rule changes.
Our next meet will be in October when we visit the Weyhill Fair for our Harvest Supper. We are having a fish-and-chip dinner on Saturday, which will require booking, so please check out our website for details and menu or give the mobile a call. Weyhill is very close to Andover, and we have a number of attractions in the area.
Within walking distance is the Weyhill Fairground Craft Center with a number of craft shops and a good cafe. Slightly further afield is the Hawk Conservancy which is always worth a visit. They have a number of flying shows involving a large number of birds of prey, including eagles, vultures and owls.
The Army Flying Museum at Middle Wallop ios also a great day out where you can discover the story of the British Army flying, with their collection spanning the five main branches of Army Aviation from 1878 to current times.
