Well the first day of Spring has come and gone and feelings are that the season’s going backwards. Let’s hope it warms up soon and by the time this gets to you it may have happened.
Only one meet since my last contribution and that was the birthday meet at Wallop school. A good few chanced the February weather and found their way there with caravans and motorhomes and we all survived including those whose van dumped its water during the night because of a plummeting temperature. We had a really good Wessex evening after our American tea with all sorts of entertainment. A good gathering of visitors helped swell the crowd and also provided extra entertainment. Our thanks to Patrick and Sue who were our stewards for the first time, well done you did well. This was our 34th birthday and it’s great we are still going strong, keep it up members because without you we’d not be celebrating!
Our next meet will be our AGM so more about that in the next newsletter and then we have May bank holiday at Furzebrook. This is a nice site with walks adjacent on the heath and Wareham and Swanage nearby. The hall is within walking distance and for those who want to venture further there are such places as the tank museum and monkey world. Then it’s Winchester RFC within walking distance of Winchester where there is the May Fest and also the Watercress festival at nearby Alresford. End of May sees us at Rowdeford School where it’s a Saturday bus trip into Chippenham for the folk festival. June sees us at Scotts Haven, Soberton. A nice flat field with a ceilidh either in the barn on site or at hall in Soberton.
Please come and join us if you want to venture further afield or are near us on your hols. We will hopefully always greet you with a cheery ‘hello’ and a welcoming smile (that goes for members too!).
