When you receive this Newsletter we will have had our Harvest Supper at Greatham and Halloween meet at Blackfield School, so I will let you know later how things went.
Our meet at Soberton only had a few units unfortunately, perhaps due to many of our members being away at Sidmouth and on holidays. We thank Mel and Paul for stewarding there which was their first meet as stewards with us. The De Montfort School at Evesham was a very successful meet giving our members a chance to get their bearings in the school and to sort as much as we can ready for the 2017 Easter. We feel confident that there will be another good Easter meet there.
We visited St. John’s Farm near Fordingbridge over the August Bank holidays and it was well attended, unfortunately the owner had not maintained the field and some members left early because of it! We viewed an alternative field in the same area which looked very good so hope to go there next year. Our thanks to Mike Goodall for finding it.
Fort Widley was well attended and all went very well, and thanks go to Lyn and Tony on their first meet as stewards. We had our usual social/singaround on Friday evening, ‘Bring and Buy’ during Saturday and a very jolly dance in the evening. We had several visitors that evening as well. Tony organised a tour of the Fort for Sunday which was taken up by 17 members and it was very interesting and informative. We also thank our stewards for organising some good weather over the weekend.
We just have our Christmas Party now in December at Soberton Village Hall. It is just a one day event although Scott’s Haven site is not far away if anyone wishes to ring them to organise camping overnight.
May we wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year and look forward to seeing you camping in 2017.
