Friday 17th February 2012 2 nights Middle Wallop Wessex Area Birthday Party This is our first event of the 2012 season. We camp at Wallop Primary School, which is situated in the village of Middle Wallop, and it's grounds adjoin the army airfield. We hold our party in the the school hall. The field here is not accessible during the winter months, so all units will have to use hard standing pitches on the school playground adjacent to the hall. The site opens at 2pm on Friday and closes at 4pm on Sunday. Stewards for the weekend are Pam and Geordie, who can be contacted via the Wessex mobile phone on 07939 592 200. At crossroads by the George Inn turn left into Farley St. Take next left into School Lane The school is at the top of the lane on the left (follow signs). From the South follow A30/343 (signs Andover). At crossroads by the George Inn turn right into Farley St., then as above. Find it on Google Maps What's on: On Friday evening we will gather in the warmth of the hall, to catch up on news, maybe play some music and have a singalong. American Tea The hall will be open on Saturday afternoon from 3pm for everyone to meet up in the warm. In the early evening we will hold an 'American Tea'. Please bring a plate of your favourite food to share with the group. Ceilidh This will start at 7.30pm on Saturday evening, and will feature the usual range of dancing, music and singing, and other entertainment. We will also be holding a raffle to raise funds for the Wessex Area group. In the area: Museum of Army Flying The story of the army in the air, from nineteenth century observation balloons right through to attack helicopters Hawk Conservancy Trust Birds of prey, including owls, vultures and eagles. Three flying displays each day. Danebury Iron Age hill fort Good walks and good views. Longstock Nursery Extremely good nursery run by the John Lewis Group.
