No further meets in 2010 West Stour Coking Farm is a quiet site, lying in the peaceful heart of the Blackmore Vale about 6 miles west of Shaftesbury. The site is level with long views and, weather permitting, lovely sunrises and sunsets. Originally a dairy farm, they now run sheep in several of their fields, and you will often see their Rheas, KuneKune pigs, and various fowls wandering about the place. Coking Farm Coarse Fishery, adjacent to the site, has 5 well managed lakes which total 20 acres of water offering a variety of fishing from specimen carp and catfish to pleasure and match angling
At Coking Farm we have use of their shower and toilet facilities, although they are a short walk from where we camp!
A garage and shop selling essentials and newspapers is about a mile away.
Shaftesbury (7 miles away) has a large Tesco and a range of other shops.
The Ship Inn is just a mile away and has an excellent restaurant as well as a friendly bar.
India Cottage serves excellent Indian food is just two miles distant, and also offers a very good take-away service.
Within 4 miles there are several more very good eating places, including a very good fish and chip shop and Chinese take-away in Stalbridge, the Kings Arms pub and restaurant, the Stapleton Arms and the Blackmore Vale Arms.
Further afield, the The White Horse at Stourpaine (just north of Blandford Forum, postcode DT11 8TA) serves good food, with very reasonable prices for Senior Citizens)
There is no public transport serving West Stour.
